i got my grades in! i have a 4.0 for the semester as well as for the first year of grad school! not only that, but i also got a $3000 scholarship for sure, with another possible $4000 pending. i really hope i get them all! i know other people applied, but i just wanna be really selfish about it. :)

i was just trying to type the word homosexualities and my microsoft word didn't recognize it so it suggested "homosexul ties"

i'm really tired and need to take a nap. school is going well, i have a few weeks left in my first year of graduate studies!

my band is playing 2 shows in MI VERY SOON and i would love everyone to come and see us play! the first one is on april 8th in ypsilanti at the dreamland theater and the second is april 21st at ladyfest lansing!!!!!!!

woohooo!

my bandmates and i started girlsrock!chicago, a non-profit organization where we have rock camp every summer for girls in the chicago area where they learn instruments, zine-making, recording things at home... everything is flying out of control and propelling our cause here and it's so motivating!

other than that, i'm broke and eat a lot of cereal. i must say that the alpha-bits i bought are not living up to their expectations.

something in my room smells.really.bad.

i have no clue what it is! all that's in there is clean laundry, cds, and my bed!

i emptied all my trash cans... it still stinks! i have no food in there...

i hope it isn't a dead mouse or something. i had a live one in my truck a few weeks ago and that really sucked, but i'm worried because it's late and i'm tired and i can't sleep because my room smells.

er... my new semester at school kinda bites cause they're all grad/undergrad split classes and i don't feel challenged in 2/3 of them.

on a happier note, my band found a practice space and have been playing there a lot! we are recording a 5 song demo that will hopefully be ready for our APRIL 7th SHOW IN YPSILANTI!!!! everyone please come out to see us! check out our songs at www.gaminethief.com or www.myspace.com/gaminethief

i haven't been working a lot because hours are really cut back, but it's ok because my band and i are trying to organize a chicago rock camp for girls and that's keeping us really busy. we're also trying to book a spot for ladyfest lansing in april, but not sure on that yet.

mostly all i do is school/band stuff... try to go dancing or something on the weekends if i can. there's so much stuff to do, but the small things i decide on take up most of my time.

i'm not dating and haven't been for the entirety of my existence in chicago. this is for several reasons...
1. i don't really want any attachment to another person right now
2. i don't really go anywhere to meet people because i mostly go to straight dive bars with cheap beer
3. all the girls i know/meet have girlfriends and that's just too much for me to think about
4. i am highly undesirable just kidding about that one!!!!

i have to get up early tomorrow and need to relax and watch a movie since i spent all day in my bed doing homework. such a tough life i live...

school is officially over for the semester. last night was the first night i slept more than 3-4 hours in over a week.

best buy sucks. i need another job.

i'm poor and my feet hurt.

it's freezing in chicago, but i love it!

i got a free cd from best buy yesterday because they gave us all prizes. no one picked out the cd and i asked if i could take it even though i already got a dvd series for being MVP.

IT IS AMAZING!

instead of starting my readings for class tonight, i became engrossed in the film "My Life" with Michael Keaton and Nicols Kidman. Needless to say, for those who have seen it, I am now ridiculously depressed. It made me think about when my sister Julie was dying in the back room of my parents' house from cervical cancer and how much it must have hurt my mother to see her child like that... then i thought about my niece Jessica and how she doesn't remember her mother and will never be able to know her in any other way than through the people who were around her did and it's just not fair. i was only nine when my sister died, but i remember having to bring her glasses of water all the time and watching her body disintegrate from the unsuccessful chemotherapy.

life is fucked up.

time is winding down for me very quickly in los angeles.

today i slept in, had a great time at lunch with a good friend, and had a stellar evening.

i went out to a rally in west hollywood park to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the 19th amendment. People from organizations all over the state of California were there to speak on several upcoming political events/ask for financial assistance. Following the rally was a free screening of "Iron Jawed Angels" which happens to be a favorite movie of mine... if you haven't seen it, you must. or else don't bother talking to me anymore.

we all went to 'girl bar' afterwards and danced our pants off. well i did.

i have my last real shift at my best buy tomorrow because my sunday shift will be inventory. sunday night i work from 6p.m. to 2 a.m. or so, come home and sleep, wake up and head back to Michigan for a little bit before i start the next chapter of my life.

it's kind of scary, but i think i'm ready for it all.

let's hope everything goes well. seeing as how i'll soon be 26 and can leave the crappiness that is being 25 all behind me...

just so that everyone knows...

I will be leaving Los Angeles one week from today to head home. I'll be home on the first in time for my birthday, pack my things, and head off to Chicago on the 5th to start my new life once again. If anyone in the Metro Detroit area would like to see me, please respond to this post or call me so we can make arrangements.

even though L.A. has been a strange experience, it's been an experience nontheless. i get kinda sad when i think about leaving. i was thinking about writing a journal/book about all the weird stuff that's happened here. we'll see if i actually feel productive enough to do it. you know what i should do? hire someone to do it for me... that's what you do here!!

i really have to pee and there's no toilet paper in my godforsaken apartment and Matthew Perry was at a red light next to me yesterday on Sunset Blvd. in a super-flashy car. I bet he has toilet paper at his place.

there's some crazy midnight presale thing at work tomorrow night and i get to work it. hooray!! I think they're fun cause i don't really have to work. it's just selling the same thing to about 100 people, sitting around and having fun, and getting paid. I work from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.

i went for a drive with rosa tonight. she took me to this really awesome view of hollywood from Mulholland Drive and then we whipped around to Griffith Park and the L.A. Zoo. Too bad I had just eaten pizza hut and the winding roads made me wanna vom.

maybe it's not so bad.

tonight was so fucked up.

i worked a long hard day and was supposed to go to this club with some people from work but then one lady had problems with her babysitter so I thought i was gonna have to drive her to the valley with her 4 kids in my truck. luckily someone with a bogger truck volunteered. so i ended up dropping someone off at the bus station, picking up anne from work, and going to downtown l.a. for this party at this club that this guy from my work was supposed to spin at. we got there, parked way too far away, walked through creepy streets that smelled like piss, and ended up in this club where i was one of three white girls. mind you, i was wearing shit-kickers and all dark clothes... we met up with some coworkers, did several shots of whiskey, met up with some more people, danced, sweat a lot, and then my friend's brother got hit by some guy and this huge fight broke out. i have this superhero complex and tried to protect my friends and i got punched in the face.

that's right. i got punched in the face in a crazy bar fight in l.a. wtf?

so we booked it out of there and went to this girl's house that anne's dating and she gave me ice and water. (thank you!) and i ended up meeting this really cool girl and we talked outside until the sprinklers turned on at 4:15 a.m.

i did four shots of whiskey, got my face rocked, and am ready to pass out.

good thing i have tomorrow off...
